This is a classically stranded, two-coloured hat pattern, with a Latvian braid and a simple cuffed ribbing and continuing with a stranded pattern resembling Aurora Borealis we have frequently dancing in the Icelandic sky on clear, cold nights. Some rows long floats are inevitable, it is recommended that you weave in your carried colour yarn every 3rd stitch as you go. When working the pattern, keep the contrast colour strand near you, so it will be the more pronounced one (dominant). This pattern is irregular and changes in each round, the number in the last square of each row indicates the number of stitches of the same colour.

The Icelandic Northern lights and volcanic eruptions are among the most amazing spectacles that forces of nature offer. Since my volcanic pattern has become a reality, it was time for me to create a pattern where I capture these extremely beautiful, colourful and diverse movements in the sky that are characteristic of Iceland. This was the first time I dyed the yarn to match the colours of nature in the pattern. I found the perfect colours I feel are perfect for the northern lights kit.
