This is a classically stranded, two-coloured mittens pattern, beginning with a double ribbing and continuing with a stranded pattern resembling an eruption we had 2021 in Fagradalsfjalli.
In some places long floats are inevitable, and it is recommended that you weave in your yarn every 3rd stitch as you go. When working the pattern, keep the contrast colour strand near you, so it will be the more pronounced one (dominant).

We had this tourist friendly volcano eruption at Reykjanespensula, it was very nice to take a hike up there, sit down and admire the forces of the nature. The pattern itself is inspired by a photo I took up there.

Thorough explanations as well as links to technical videos are included.
